Classes

The idea of my lessons is for you to enjoy yourself and learn.

 My classes are limited to 12 students, but on average there are 9 in each class. I run a policy for the 10 weeks that if you miss a class, you can make it up in any of my other classes within your 10 weeks, so 10 lessons in 10 weeks.

 It is a very friendly atmosphere and the only pressure put on you is by yourself, I will guide and nudge you all the way but you are not set homework etc- not that I want to stop anyone from doing so, its just we are all so busy and for most of my students it’s the only time in the week they have some “me time”.

 I teach watercolor, acrylic and oils and Pastel pencil in each class, as I go around each person and teach them individually. Everyone is working on whatever they want to paint. I don’t want to teach you, my painting; I want to help you find your own style

So please come along with a few ideas of what sort of thing you would like to paint. I have 3 large folders of ideas and line drawings to get you started if you are stuck. My main concern is that it’s easy and fun,

“It’s a hobby it’s not meant to be hard”.

 If you have never painted before, I know it can be very scary to start, to break the ice and step out of your comfort zone but please believe me all my students have known that same feeling and are all very welcoming and encouraging.

  If you have painted before, please bring along pics of your work or a painting that you are working on or have finished. This will help me see where you are at and where I can help you.

Bring along your painting gear- brushes, paints, rags, apron, paper/canvas, and ideas

I have easels both standing and table and water jars.

I will provide you with a coffee/tea and biscuit.

The Kumeu Art Centre is just behind the Kumeu council and library. It’s lovely and light with lots of room. Please let me know if you have any special needs and I will try my best to accommodate them.
